Mobely shows patience in the process
"I had Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Florida International, a lot of schools were after me, but I couldn't qualify," Mobely told JCFootball.com recently. "My high school coach played at Southwest Mississippi, so he had a lot of ties to the coaches here.
"I liked the staff after I talked to them and just felt like it was the right move for me to come play here and get my academics in order."
As a freshman last fall, Mobely worked in the rotation early on for the Wolfpack and took over when starter Tywon Lee went down with an injury.
"I was getting a few carries here and there until the fifth game and then I started playing more when he went down," Mobely said. "I finished with 600 yards and seven touchdowns and I figured I would have a chance at having a big season this year."
After working hard all offseason on his conditioning and speed, Mobely was poised for a breakout season, however during fall camp he broke his right foot, but continued to play on it and amassed nearly 500 yards and six touchdowns before the injury got too painful.
"This past week I got it stepped on and it was done," Mobely said. "I just couldn't walk or run on it anymore and I definitely couldn't cut on it like I'm used to, so we decided just to shut it down and get it taken care of and then get me ready for the post season if we make it."
Recruiting has been steady for Mobely through most of the season, but he's still waiting on his first offer.
"Tennessee State likes me a lot," Mobely said. "I think they are going to offer me and I know Tennessee, Kansas State and Miami all like me and are recruiting me right now.
"My coaches said a lot of schools are coming through and talking to them about me and my academics and my injury, just making sure I will be okay. I'm just going to stay focused on school and football and rehabbing and the rest will take care of itself."
Mobely is on pace to graduate in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
