Anderson puts up big numbers for Laney
"I was a full-qualifier so it wasn't grades, but I wanted to play running back and if I wanted to do that I needed to play ball at Laney and show what I could do," Anderson told JCFootball.com recently.
As a freshman last season, Anderson was solid posting 693 yards and three touchdowns seeing spot duty, but he's been the workhorse of the Eagles' backfield this season carrying the ball 146 times for 1,185 yards and 12 touchdowns in seven games.
"We run mostly out of the I-Formation or Pro Style sets now," Anderson said. "In high school I played quarterback and running back, so I ran some option and we ran out of the spread too.
"I've got experience and I've been productive in both types of systems so I feel like I can play for anyone and do well.
"I have good speed (4.5) and I can make people miss or run through tackles. It really doesn't matter to me."
On the recruiting front, Anderson is hearing from several schools and could be visiting two Pac 10 schools after the season ends.
"I am supposed to go to Washington State the first weekend in December," Anderson said. "I also am planning to go to Oregon State the second or third weekend of the month.
"Arizona is another school I plan to visit and the other schools that are calling are Nebraska, Oregon, Nevada, Iowa and UNLV."
Since Anderson was a full-qualifier, he can leave at any time and he plans to sign with a team in December with three years to play two wherever he ends up.
