Dean wideout is a playmaker

A.J. Price story

Dean WR A.J. Price (6-4, 180) has been putting up monster numbers this season and is getting attention from programs across the country. JCFootball.com spoke to the talented wideout recently and he updated us on where things stand and what makes him so dangerous on the football field…

Price signed with Penn State after finishing off a standout career at South Lakes (Reston, Va.) High School, but after two years in Happy Valley, he was unable to stay qualified.

"I wasn't disciplined and I didn't stay eligible," Price admitted to JCFootball.com recently. "I just got behind and couldn't catch up and you can't be on scholarship if you aren't academically eligible."

After looking around, Price chose to head to Dean last spring in an attempt to get his academics in order so he could have another shot at playing D-1 football.

So far this season, Price has done nothing to diminish his status as one of the most explosive JUCO wideouts in the country by posting 20 receptions for 510 yards and 6 touchdowns.

"I can do whatever you need me to do," Price said. "I have 4.4 speed and I'm a long-strider so I can run past guys or I can come across the middle and hurt teams.

"I actually like playing against zone coverage a lot. Press-coverage is just man-on-man and if you beat your man, you are home free, but against zone you have to find the holes and make the right reads, so it's a lot harder, but you can really hurt defenses by doing that."

On the recruiting front, Price has been hearing from schools across the country and said he will take some visits after the season is over.

"Right now Bowling Green and U-Mass are my two offers," Price said. "I've talked to Georgia, West Virginia, Purdue and Oregon a few times and they are all interested in me, but none of them have offered me.

"I'll finish up my season soon and then I will take some visits and make my decision. I definitely am not going to hurry things, but I'd like to make a decision and then work on getting my AA done."

Price will finish up his AA in May and he will have two years to play two wherever he ends up.
