Laney (Calif.) College running back C.J. Anderson talked about his trip to Washington State and…
Anderson's recruiting on hold for a bit
"I'm taking an on-line class right now, to shore that up, but because of that I won't be able to sign mid-year like I was hoping to do."
Washington State is the only school that Anderson has visited and he said, if he had the classes to be admitted, the Cougars would already have gotten his signature on a letter-of-intent.
"You could definitely say that Washington State is where I would have gone if I could have signed," Anderson admitted. "I really liked the coaches and the players a lot and I felt really comfortable there, but now, since I have this class to take, it will let me visit some other schools and really make sure I am making the right choice no matter where I end up."
The four schools who Anderson said he expects to visit are Memphis, Nevada, San Jose State and New Mexico State, but he hasn't firmed up any plans as of yet.
"I actually am going to call the coaches over the next couple weeks," Anderson said. "Coaches can't call me right now, so I'll need to call them and set up my visits.
"I'm wide open right now and I'll look at all of those schools carefully and I'll probably get some home visits before I decide."
Another school that could be getting in the mix shortly is California, a school that Anderson said he's very interested in.
"It's funny, I see all these media sites and recruiting sites saying that Cal is recruiting me and that I'm favoring them or something like that, but I've never even talked to one of their coaches," Anderson said with a chuckle. "I mean, definitely, yeah, I would love to talk to them and I'd love to take a visit there and meet the coaches, but at this point who knows.
"I guess they asked my coaches about me and they will probably start recruiting me after the dead period, so if that happens they are another school I will look at and possibly visit."
As a freshman in 2009, Anderson was solid posting 693 yards and three touchdowns seeing spot duty and this fall he put up huge numbers, posting over 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns on a team that went 5-5.
We'll continue to keep track of Anderson's progress and we'll update things as they happen with his recruitment.
