Interest continues to build for Carlisle

Even though he moved from Butler to Coffeyville, LB Michael Carlisle (6-1, 215) has had plenty of suitors showing him interest. JCFootball.com got an update on things from the talented linebacker prospect including which schools could be the closest to extending offers...

"Right now the ones I'm hearing the most from are Texas Southern, BYU, Louisville, Kentucky and Nebraska," Carlisle told JCFootball.com. "None of them have offered yet, but they are all recruiting me pretty hard and they could offer after the start of my season."

As a freshman at Butler last fall, Carlisle played quite a bit posting 50 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, one sack and one fumble recovery from his outside linebacker spot.

"I'm more of a run-stopper," Carlisle said. "I read plays well and I'm a sure-tackler when I get there.

"I want to get my pass-drops down and just get smoother into them. I have 4.6 speed, so I have the speed to do well in coverage, but it wasn't something I was really good at so it's been a focus for me this offseason."

Carlisle and his teammates began two-a-day practices last week and are preparing for their first game, August 27th, when they will take on Tyler.

"We've been facing temperature's in the 100s every day, but it just makes you tougher and gets you ready that much faster," Carlisle said. "You just have to keep hydrated because you know you have to put in the time now in order to be ready this fall."

Carlisle is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two wherver he ends up.
