Recruiting Update: Trinity Valley

Trinity Valley is 8-1 and recently got a thrilling 55-51 win over Navarro. The Cardinals have some very talented players that are getting a lot of recruiting attention right now and JCFootball.com caught up with head coach Brad Smiley and he updates us on where things stand with several of his mid-year prospects...

CB Keivon Gamble Gamble is a talented corner who already has committed to TCU.

Stats: 28 tackles, 1 interception and 12 passes defensed

DT Wesley Hollingshed - At 6'2", 300 pounds, Hollingshed has the size and athleticism to play on the nose or as a three-technique. Committed to Kansas State.

Stats: 19 tackles and 2 tackles-for-loss

QB Tucker Carter - He's been flying under-the-radar, but he's a mid-year player with a good frame (6'3", 215) and he's having a very good season. Carter accounts for 300 yards of offense and three touchdowns per game.

Stats: 138 of 230, 21 touchdowns and 7 interceptions; 260 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns

WR Derel Walker - Another player the coaches think is flying under-the-radar, Walker is a player with good size (6'2", 180) and speed (4.4). Walker is a big-play threat every time he touches the ball.

Stats: 29 receptions for 605 yards and 6 touchdowns

DE Parker Holloway - Long and outstanding quickness (4.2 shuttle) with big-time upside. At 6'5", 245 pounds, Holloway has the ideal frame to be a real force off the edge. Has offers from North Carolina, Baylor, Western Kentucky and Lamar.

Stats: 12 tackles, 1 tackle-for-loss and 1 sack

CB Clifford Stokes - Stokes is a big corner who has the talent to be a lock-down guy wherever he ends up. Current offers are from Houston, Iowa State, Minnesota and Lamar.

Stats: 25 tackles, 2 interceptions and 12 passes defensed

DB Martez Shabazz - Shabazz is the fastest player on the TVCC squad and really likes to fly around and make plays. Currently sports offers from South Alabama, Western Kentucky and Lamar and is getting some heavy interest from some BCS programs.

Stats: 37 tackles, 6 tackles-for-loss, 1 interception and 15 passes defensed

C/G Nate Richards - Big and physical with a bit of a nasty streak, Richards is a player who projects well at all three interior line positions, but has enough athleticism to play outside as well. The talented mid-year prospect has an offer from Rice and more schools are picking up their interest in the D-1 bounceback.

OT Jeremy Raine - A beast at 6'5", 315 pounds, Raine already has an offer from Memphis and is getting a lot of attention from some other schools who have requested his film. Raine has played every position along the offensive line, but has started every game at right tackle this year and appears to be a good fit at the spot when he arrives at his next school.

LB Jermaine Longino - Plays the middle spot for TVCC and the coaches love the way he "pulls the trigger" when diagnosing plays. Longino is a real leader and is very physical.

Stats: 58 tackles (leads team), 1 tackle-for-loss and 2 sacks

G/C Travon Carter - Has started every game since arriving at Trinity Valley at left guard, but played center through high school, so his skill set is perfect for coaches who love versatility. At 6'2", 310 pounds, Carter has the bulk and strength to move the pile.

P/K Brad Dunavant - Talented kicker who can both placekick as well as punt. Dunavant was an All-SWJCFC punter as a freshman last season and he should be again this year.

Stats: 38 yards per punt average on 25 punts with a long of 52

LS Kevin Garza - Smiley mentioned that in his 17 years as a college football coach, including 11 at the D-1 level, he hasn't seen a better long-snapper. His grades are outstanding, so he should be able to get in anywhere.
