SEC Battle Royale for San Mateo OL

SEC Battle Royale for San Mateo OL

One of the top JUCO offensive line prospects in the country that is still looking for a home is College of San Mateo OL Fehoko Fanaika (6-6, 330) and today (Thursday) he will take an official visit to an SEC school. In addition to that visit, the talented offensive lineman has also reeled in an offer from another SEC school and this could come down to a battle for the talented JUCO prospect...

Fanaika prepped at Florin High School in Sacramento, California and knew he wasn't going to be able to qualify for a four-year scholarship, so he listened to a family member and took his advice on where he should play JC football.

"My cousin Jim played there a few years ago and when I talked to him he said I should check it out at San Mateo," Fanaika told JCFootball.com. "I went and met the coaches and it felt right so I just decided to head here and play ball.

"I also needed to get out of Sacramento and get out on my own and meet some new people so that's what I was able to do by coming here."

As a freshman in 2010, Fanaika weighed 370 pounds and started only a couple of games, but an offseason regimen of running and lifting to go along with a better diet has allowed him to shed some of those pounds.

Fanaika will visit Florida today (Thursday) and return home on Saturday, JCFootball.com has also been able to confirm that Georgia has also extended an offer which could delay his decision.

We will have more on this developing story as things get closer to wrapping up.
