First two offers in the books for COS DB

One of the top JUCO DBs in the 2013 recruiting class promises to be College of the Sequoias CB Steve Nelson (6-0, 185) and this past week the talented prospect got his first two offers...

Nelson enjoyed a solid prep career at Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, but since he was unable to qualify for a scholarship to a four-year school, he opted to go the JUCO route.

"My friend K. J. Morton was a player here and he said it was a great program to come be part of," Nelson said. "I figured it would be a great place for me to work on my academics and my technique and play against some top talent."

As a freshman this past season, while locking down one side of the field, Nelson posted 29 tackles, two interceptions and 16 passes defensed while starting every game.

"I played left corner, but most of the time they just put me on the (opponents') best receiver," Nelson said. "I like competing against the best the other team has to offer, so it was great experience for me."

Recruiting has picked up since Singing Day on February 1st with Nelson hauling in two offers.

"Houston and Middle Tennessee have both offered me," Nelson said. "They offered this week and I have a lot of other schools looking at me."

With Nelson's outstanding size, quickness and legitimate 4.4 speed, he is a prospect that will attract offers from across the country before it's all said and done.

Nelson is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.
