Two offers in the books for JUCO corner

Hartnell CB Carroll Washington (5-11, 177) had an outstanding freshman season this past fall and with his speed, confidence and talents, he's already hauled in two SEC offers and more schools are looking and could be close to offering the lock-down corner...

Washington prepped at Edmondson-Westside High School in Baltimore, Md. and was unable to qualify for a D-1 scholarship, so he headed west on the advisement of his coaches.

"It's been a good move for me," Washington told JCFootball.com. "It's definitely different than being on the East Coast, but here at Hartnell, the coaches are great and we're bringing this program back.

"Me and the rest of the guys here, we're doing what we need to do to get ready for our season and getting opportunities to play at the next level."

As a freshman in 2011, Washington locked down his side of the field, totaling 28 tackles, five interceptions and 12 passes defensed as well as a forced fumble.

"I feel like I'm better in man-to-man, but I can play zone or 'off' if they need me to," Washington said. "I can feel the guy I'm going up against and when you're in press, he takes you to where the ball is.

"When I see the ball in the air, I have good ball skills so I always feel like the ball is mine."

With his outstanding productivity and talents, Washington already has tw offers and a couple of other schools are showing him some interest as well.

"Mississippi State and Arkansas have both offered me and I've been talking with BYU and Texas Tech too," Washington said. "The Texas Tech coach and I actually spoke just the day before yesterday and I feel like they could be close to offering me too."

Washington is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.
