MAC school is first to offer Golden West DE

One of the top edge pass-rushers in the JUCO ranks this year promises to be Golden West DE Delroy Steele (6-3, 235) and after a solid freshman season in 2010, he's already hauled in one offer and more could be on the way...

"I have an offer from Western Michigan right now," Steele told JCFootball.com recently. "They offered me a little while ago and said they really like my speed off the edge and how I can get after the quarterback.

"I've also talked to the Arizona State coaches and I've spoken to the Louisiana-Lafayette coaches, but that's as far as it has gone so far with them."

As a prep at Jones High School in Orlando, Florida, Steele was a recruit who received a bit of interest, but since he was unable to qualify schools backed off.

"I signed with Garden City in Kansas, but I wasn't happy there," Steele admitted. "I came out here to Golden West and played as a freshman in 2010, but then I had to redshirt last year since I was having some financial problems.

"I moved back to Florida and worked all last year, but I've taken care of all of that and now I'm focused on playing ball and getting ready for my season."

As a freshman in 2010, Steele displayed the traits that promise to make him a coveted player this fall, using his long arms and 4.6 speed to post 36 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss and 7.5 sacks.

"I'm better at rushing the quarterback, but I'm good at stopping the run too," Steele admitted. "I'm really working on my 'get off' and using my hands better. You always can work on your technique and that's what I've been doing this offseason."

Steele is on pace to graduate in May of 2013 and he will have two years to play two following the 2012 football season.
