Georgia Military CB is ready to explode

A player who is poised for a big sophomore season and thus a lot of recruiting attention is Georgia Military CB Jaylon Myers (6-1, 195) and because of his outstanding physical tools and tremendous upside, he's already hauled in two offers and several other FBS programs are showing him interest...

"Right now I have offers from South Alabama and UNC Charlotte," Myers told JCFootball.com recently. "More schools are showing me interest too. Like Georgia, LSU, Kentucky, a lot of other SEC schools and some ACC schools too.

"I have interest in every school looking at me and I'm open to anyone right now. I'll hopefully have a bunch to choose from and then I can take the time to find what situation is the best one for me."

As a freshman this past fall for the Bulldogs, Myers only started two games, but saw plenty of time in the nickel and dime packages and put up solid stats -- 18 tackles and five passes defensed -- using his outstanding instincts and physical tools to make plays.

"I'm a man-to-man corner. I love being up and being physical with receivers," Myers noted. "I used to play quarterback and receiver when I was in high school, so I think that has helped me a lot in reading routes and splits.

"I have good speed (4.4) and instincts, but this offseason I'm working on being more disciplined. When I play off, I need to make sure I have my eyes where they need to be, on the quarterback, so I can read things better and make plays on the ball when it's released."

Myers prepped at North Augusta (Ga.) and wasn't able to qualify for a scholarship.

"I had bad grades," Myers admitted. "I was lazy and didn't take care of business like I needed to. Coming here to GMC was the best thing for me because it made me grow up with all of the military stuff I had to do. It's taught me discipline and how to prioritize what is important."

Myers is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.
