Webb is ready for a big 2012

After a solid freshman season that displayed his big-play abilities, Santa Ana WR Josh Webb (6-0, 180) is poised for a big sophomore campaign and already has a couple of schools interested in what he can do...

Webb enjoyed a solid prep career at Garden Grove (Ca.) High School, but when he was unable to qualify for a D-1 scholarship, he decided to stick close to home and attend Santa Ana.

"First of all, it was the closest school to my home," Webb told JCFootball.com. "Also, the coaches here are really good and I also had a couple of friends who had gone here, so it was just a good fit."

As a freshman last season, Webb used his 4.47 speed and good route-running skills to finish second on the team in both receptions (30) and yards (461) while tying for the team lead with eight touchdown receptions.

"I had a good year, but this year I feel like it's going to be even better," Webb noted. "I've been working a lot on my footwork and also just getting stronger so I can get off the press even better."

As far as recruiting is concerned, Webb has yet to receive and offer, but does have two schools showing him a lot of interest.

"Right now Fresno State and Baylor are the two schools I've talked to," Webb said. "I get letters from a lot of schools and I know my coaches have been talking to a few too, but those are the two I've spoken to.

"I'm just looking for a good fit, a place I can see myself at, and a place where I can see some playing time because when I get there I will only have two years to play."

Webb is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season.
