Hinds DL Risean Broussard

A look at some of the top defensive line performances over the past week and which players are standing out for their team so far this season. This is by no means all-inclusive, but just a snapshot of some of the players who had big-time performances over the weekend...

Hinds DE Risean Broussard - The freshman had a huge game in the Eagles' 21-6 loss to Copiah-Lincoln, posting six tackles and three sacks on the day. So far this season, in four games, Broussard leads the team in tackles with 32 while ranking second in sacks with 3.5.


Vermilion DE Trevor Schroeder - Another freshman who had a huge week, posting 15 tackles and two sacks, although his team still lost 19-0.


Northeast Mississippi DT Lavon Hooks - Hooks has been practically unblockable for offensive lines this season, racking up 22 tackles and a team-leading six sacks from his interior spot.


Ventura DE Tyshon Lee-Hodges - Another fabulous freshman, Lee-Hodges had a huge game in 11 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2.5 tackles-for-loss in Ventura's 30-24 four-overtime victory over Bakersfield.


Santa Rosa DE Mike Tuaua - Tuaua has been a terror off the edge for the Bear Cubs this season, posting 32 tackles and five sacks including last week's 10-tackle, two-sack effort in Santa Rosa's 42-28 loss to American River last Saturday.


L.A. Harbor DT Jarrell Wright - Wright has been a standout for the Seahawks so far this season up front, leading his team in sacks with 4.5 while also posting 19 tackles.


Mt. San Antonio DE Norman Moimoi - The talented freshman has gotten his college career off to a solid start by posting nine tackles and three sacks while working into the Mounties' defensive line rotation.


Mendocino DE Brett Bowers - Bowers is having a fantastic season for Mendocino, posting 19 tackles and 8.5 sacks.
