Juco TE Sets SEC Visit

Juco TE Sets SEC Visit

Brandon Vandenburg out of the College of the Desert has seen his stock skyrocket this season. The Palm Desert, Cal., resident has picked up over a dozen D1 overs this season fall. Which schools are on top of his wish list?

"Our last game is tonight," added Vandenburg when asked about his season is going. "We do not have a bowl game so this will be my last game here at College of the Desert."

How did the 6' 6", 260-pound tight end end up at College of the Desert?

"I went to a real small school out of high school and did not get the looks because of that. I went to San Diego my freshman season and started five games and played in all of them but I decided I wanted to go the juco route so I could go to a bigger school."

This season Brandon has caught 25 passes for 330 yards and 2 TD's.

"Things really slowed down for me this year. I could play fast and not worry about the plays. I just use my athleticism to the best of my ability."

What are his strengths on the field?

"I am definitely aggressive and I use good body control. I can stretch the field too."

Vandenburg sent off his highlight tape from the first three games of the 2012 campaign and the offers started rolling in.

"After my third game Kentucky, San Diego State, and Florida Atlantic offered me. They started filtering in after that. Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Connecticut, Hawaii, and Nevada all offered me after that."

When is Brandon scheduled to graduate?

"Honestly I am not sure yet. It might be mid-year of this summer. It all depends on this one class."

Brandon's latest off came from Ole Miss.

"They started recruiting me a couple weeks back. They told me that I am an aggressive blocker and have great hands. They also like how I stretch the field."

What does Vandenburg like about Ole Miss?

"I definitely like their tradition and their location and level of football they play. I think I would enjoy myself being in the South if I go outside the West Coast. I would rather be in the South if I leave here."

Which West Coast teams are in the running?

"San Diego State. They are doing pretty well this year, and they run a very tight end oriented offense, which is good. They run the pro-style offense. They are moving to the Big East which is a step up than the conference they are playing in now."

Any official visits set?

"I was supposed to go to Kentucky next weekend, but I am not going on that one anymore now that they got rid of their staff. I am scheduled to go to Ole Miss November 30th but I might move that one up. I am also talking to Vanderbilt about setting up an official visit there. They are processing my transcript right now to see if I can get into school there."
