Smith Set for First Official

East Mississippi standout Corey Smith was one of the most prolific junior college receivers in the country this season. The talented sophomore earned All-Region honors and is a strong All-America candidate. This weekend Smith will take his first official visit of the recruiting process in hopes of learning more about one of his top suitors.

"I am going to Mississippi State on Friday," said Smith. "This will be my first official.

"I don't really know what to expect, but I am looking forward to going over there to meet with the coaches and see everything."

Smith will be taking the trip to Starkville with teammate Justin Cox.

"Justin is a great player and a real cool guy," said Smith. "It won't really have any impact on my decision, but I am looking forward to going down there with him and having a good time."

The visit to Starkville is not the only official excursion the Ohio native plans to take.

"Tennessee came to see me and I am going to take an official down there in January," said Smith. "I am going to going to take an official to Ohio State in January too.

"I am not sure of the dates yet, but I know they will be in January."

As the mid year signees make their decisions official in the coming weeks, Smith expects to be more of a target.

"I know some other schools have shown me some interest and I know some others will probably be interested in me after this semester," said Smith. "I am just going to take these official visits and see what other schools come along before I make my decision.

"I am not sure when I am going to decide, but I want to take all of my visits first before I pick my school."
