"Dream Team 2013" became that much more of a reality for Kansas football, when the concept's originator JUCO defensive tackle Marquel Combs announced late Tuesday night via twitter that he will sign with the Jayhawks.

The 6-3 310 four-star LA Pierce Community College tackle will be following his best friend and fellow future Jayhawk Marcus Jenkins-Moore to Lawrence.

Combs created the concept of "Dream Team 2013" and used it as a hashtag on twitter. Fellow recruits have jump on board with and it's clear that Combs sees a chance to make history and help restore the Kansas program.

"Oh man, they were really excited to have me," Combs told JCfootball.com about the Kansas coaching staff. "They are going to use me in different ways. I'll play some nose and I'll play some three-tech, so they will use me in different ways to get the most out of me. I just feel they are headed in the right direction and I think things are changing there and I wanted to be part of it."

Landing Combs is a huge victory in an off-season of many victories so far for Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks. He's even helping now by recruiting guys to join him next year in Lawrence.

Combs chooses Kansas over an impressive list of schools, including Kansas State, Houston, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Boise State, BYU, California, Iowa State, Memphis, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina State, Oregon State, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Utah and Washington State.

Combs did confirm to JCFootball.com that he will take his final visit to Houston this weekend, but left no doubt that he will be at Kansas in 2013, leading the "Dream Team."

"I'm going to visit Houston, this weekend still, just because I had it scheduled and I wanted to see the school and campus," Combs said. "I'm a Jayhawk though and I'm really happy I made my decision."

Combs is expected to sign on the first day of the mid-year signing period, December 19th and will have two years eligibility.
