Sixteen Vanderbilt players make up the first senior class to ever play in two consecutive bowl games during their Commodore careers. Leading up to the Music City Bowl, VandyMania.com will look back on each senior's career. In this segment Jordan Rodgers is featured.
THE BASICS:
11 Jordan Rodgers
Hometown: Chico, Calif.
High school: Pleasant Valley
Position: QB
HT: 6-1 WT: 212
Chose Vanderbilt over: Kansas and Western Kentucky.
OVERVIEW:
Jordan Rodgers came to Vanderbilt in 2010 as one of the few players ever to transfer to Vandy from a junior college. Rodger's success in the classroom proves that JC transfers can be successful at Vanderbilt both academically and on the field. Rodgers missed the 2010 season due to injuries. After the starting quarterback faltered midway through the 2011 season Rodgers took over and has been somewhat firmly entrenched as the starter since. Rodgers has steadily improved his passing accuracy at Vandy and although he has rushed for far fewer yards in 2012 as 2011, he is still a significant threat to run on defenses.
BEST MOMENT:
November 5, 2011 at Florida. Rodgers proves he is the real deal while completing 19 of 27 passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns. He tosses scoring passes of 19 and 10 yards and runs for another score from 8 yards out. However, Florida holds on to win 26-21.
MEMORABLE QUOTE:
"We've been working on emphasizing the two-minute drill in practice, and the last couple of weeks we've been getting down and scoring, so it's good to see that translate to real-life game situations." Jordan Rodgers, November 10, 2012 after leading Vanderbilt to a 27-26 comeback victory over Ole Miss.
