Scott is a JUCO OL to watch in 2013

With the 2013 recruiting class in the rear-view mirror, we start to turn our attention to top freshmen who are already getting looks and one player fitting into that category is L.A. Pierce OT Justin Scott (6-6, 272). JCFootball.com caught up with the talented offensive line prospect and he updated us on which schools are showing him interest and what he does best on the football field...

Scott graduated from Southeast High School in Detroit, Michigan and was unable to qualify, so he headed to a prep school in Georgia before packing up and going west to play for the Brahmas.

"The school in Georgia was sorta a scam," Scott told JCFootball.com. "A bunch of us went there and then we found out it was accredited, so it basically was worthless for us to be there.

"I had a couple of friends out here, Marquel Combs and Marcus Jenkins-Moore and they said I needed to get out here and get to work. So I showed up and it was the right thing for me to do."

As a freshman this past season, while manning the all-important left tackle spot, Scott allowed just one sack while facing off against some of the top JUCO pass-rushers in the country.

"What I do best is pass-protection," Scott said. "I have strong hands and long arms and that helps me a lot when I drop into my pass pro sets.

"One thing I'm working on this offseason is just getting stronger and bulking up some more. I want to put on some size so I can be ready to go when I get to a four-year school."

As far as recruiting is concerned, no offers have been forthcoming at this point, but it's only a matter of time for the big, athletic and improving offensive line prospect.

"I have been talking a lot to Ohio State, Kansas, Miami and Florida and a bunch of other schools," Scott said. "It's been great to see, but it only motivates me to get better. I want to be the best player I can be."

Scott is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.
