"I took my trip to USC this week and they offered me, but when I got home and was thinking about it, I just kept thinking Utah was the place for me and I decided that if I wasn't going to choose USC over Utah, then I wasn't going to choose any school over Utah, so I called coach (Kyle) Wittingham this morning and committed," a happy Moeai told JCFootball.com. "They were so stoked when I called to tell them. They were just really excited."
Moeai noted that it came down to a couple of different reasons why he chose the Utes.
"A big part was that it was close to home and my family could see me play. My dad has some health issues, so it was real important for me to be close to home," Moeai noted. "I also just liked the program a lot and felt like it was home. It's home for me."
As a freshman this past fall, Moeai hauled in 32 receptions for 375 yards and eight scores, ranking second on the team in all three categories.
Moeai, who was a full-qualifier out of high school, had offers from the Utes as well as Colorado and Georgia Southern and was getting a lot of attention from the likes of South Florida, Arizona State and Oregon State.
He will enroll at Utah this summer and will have four years to play three once he steps on campus.
