Seven Offers And Counting For Rankin
Rankin recently took a visit to Auburn and Southern Miss and he said he plans to visit Alabama in June.
"I'm just sorta taking it all in and seeing what my options are," Rankin noted. "I want to check out different schools and see what they have to offer and how I'd fit in. After that, I'll start to narrow things down and schedule my official visits."
As a starter for Gulf Coast last fall, Rankin held down the left tackle spot and he said he'll do whatever it takes to get the job done.
"I move my feet well and I feel like I have good athleticism," Rankin noted. "I can run-block or pass-block pretty well already. I love being physical with guys, so I really like to run-block, but, like I said, I'm a good athlete, so pass-pro is pretty natural for me too."
This offseason he's already been hard at work perfecting his craft while also adding size and strength to his frame.
"I definitely need to hone my technique more and get more consistent with it," Rankin said. "I've been lifting a lot and running and all that stuff because I want to get bigger and stronger before we hit the field next year."
As a prep, Ranking enjoyed a solid career at Mendenhall (Ms.) High School, but he was on a small-side for an offensive lineman and he didn't get much in the way of attention from four-year programs, so he decided to sign with the Bulldogs and he's happy where he's at right now.
"It was definitely a good choice for me," Rankin said. "I was only 235 pounds when I graduated, so I needed to get bigger and we have a great program here for getting guys ready to play ball at the next level."
Rankin is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2014 football season.
