Second Offer Rolls In For Hunsicker
"I've gotten a lot of letters from some different schools. I've been hearing from Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri a lot and during the spring, when we were practicing, there were a bunch of schools through that I talked to, but I haven't really been talking to any coaches since then."
As a redshirt freshman last season, while playing safety, Hunsicker managed to finish with 48 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, one interception and six pass breakups.
However, while he manned one of the safety spots for Hutch last fall, during the spring, he worked out quite a bit at corner and it's still up in the air where he will line up for his sophomore campaign.
"The coaches were unsure where things will stand with the incoming guys and who can play where, so they definitely wanted me to get some work in at corner," Hunsicker noted. "I actually feel comfortable playing either one, so it doesn't really matter to me. I'm probably more comfortable at safety just because I've been playing it for a while and also because I like to read things a little more and make plays on the ball and you can't do that as much at corner."
As a prep, Hunsicker enjoyed a solid career at Ellis (Ks.) High School, however, his test scores weren't high enough to get qualified, so he decided to head to Hutchinson to continue his football career.
"The coaches here were cool and they did a good job with getting their guys out (to four year schools)," Hunsicker said.
With regards to the recruiting process, Hunsicker said he's been thinking about what will help him make his decision.
"The first thing is the environment and my comfort level and then the second thing is the program and the team and how good they are about getting guys to the NFL," Hunsicker added. "I am not quite sure if I will take any visits this summer or not, I haven't really been invited yet, but if I do get someone wanting me to come and see the school, then I will definitely considering going before the start of camp."
Hunsicker is on pace to finish up his two year degree in December and he will have two years to play two following the 2014 football season.
