Two Offers And Counting For Ruffin

Two Offers And Counting For Ruffin

After a solid freshman season, Kilgore WR DeQuann Ruffin (6-2, 190) is on the radar of several four-year programs and he recently updated JCFootball.com on where things stand in the recruiting process...

"I have offers right now from Texas Southern and Southeast Louisiana," Ruffin told JCFootball.com recently. "I've been talking a lot with Texas State, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Sam Houston State, TCU and Georgia State and there were more that came by in the spring."

As a freshman this past fall, Ruffin worked his way into the receiver rotation and posted 15 receptions for 380 yards, but he said he wants to find a way to get into the endzone, something he was unable to do last season.

"I have a big body and that helps me a lot, but I need to make more plays in the redzone and I think I can," Ruffin said. "I've always taken pride in being a redzone target and being that go-to guy for my quarterback in the offense, so this year, that's what I want to do."

After finishing up his prep career at Summer Creek (Houston, Tx.) High School, Ruffin was considering offers from several schools, but he signed with Stephen F. Austin.

"I was a full-qualifier, but when I got to SFA, I just didn't feel comfortable and the whole staff there got fired eventually, so I left and I came to Kilgore," Ruffin said.

The talented wideout is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2014 football season.
