Bakersfield S Is Ready To Make An Impact

Because of an injury, Bakersfield S Peter Marzett (6-1, 190) only saw playing time in two games for the Renegades last season, so he knows this fall he will need to prove he can get it done before schools start to extend offers his way...

"I only played two games because I tore my (right) ACL on the first play of the third game," Marzett told JCFootball.com. "Ever since then, I have been focused on this fall and getting ready and I'm back running full speed and cutting and working out just like I always was.

"I feel stronger and faster than I was before and I can't wait to get back out there and start playing again."

Marzett had five tackles in his limited playing time and he said this fall he will be play both safety spots although he prefers to be closer to the line.

"I like both of them equally, but I love to hit and play close to the line," Marzett noted. "I can cover and play 'center field' for us, but I like to be closer to the line and I like to hit so I can do either one and I will be happy."

As far as recruiting is concerned, Marzett hasn't been on many radars because of his lack of playing time, so he knows this fall will be his chance to show people what he can do.

"The only school that has been in contact with me is Northern Arizona right now," Marzett said. "I've been in contact with North Texas, Villanova and Georgetown, but right now I don't have any offers yet."

Marzett was a solid prep at West Bakersfield (Ca.) High School and he was unable to qualify, so he signed with the Gades.

He will finish up his two-year degree in May and he will have three years to play two following the 2014 football season, although there is a chance he could get a medical redshirt for 2013 and he would have four years to play three if that were to happen.
