Congratulations to this week's Western State Conference Players of the Week. One offensive MVP was Canyons QB Andrew Miramontes. Andrew was 18 of 27 for 237 yards and 3 TD’s, plus he carried 6 times for 36 yards and 1 TD. WR Eddie Newton (West LA) caught 6 for 128 & 2 TDs. (PHOTO)

Offense—

QUARTERBACK—ANDREW MIRAMONTES, Canyons

Andrew Miramontes had an outstanding games for the Cougars. Andrew was 18 of 27 for 237 yards and 3 TD’s, plus he carried 6 times for 36 yards and 1 TD. Andrew is a 6-2 205 lb. freshman from Birmingham High School.

RUNNING BACK—LEONARD MASON, Citrus

Leonard Mason won the award for the first time. Leonard carried 10 times for 120 yards and 1 TD. Leonard is a 5-11 195 lb. freshman from Alta Loma High School.

QUARTERBACK—NICHOLAS ACCIANI—Santa Barbara

Nicholas broke a school with 483 passing yards. He was 27 of 42 with 5 TD’s. Nicholas is a 6-3 186 lb. freshman from Scripps High School in San Diego.

QUARTERBACK—KEITH LOCKWOOD, L.A. Harbor

Keith Lockwood completed 22 of 42 passes for 363 yards and 3 TD’s. He also carried 7 times for 5 yards and 1 TD. Keith is a 6-0 190 lb. sophomore from Torrance High School.

RUNNING BACK—ANTHONY DICKSON, L.A. Valley

Anthony Dickson had an outstanding game for the Monarchs. Anthony carried 21 times for 126 yards and 1 TD. Anthony is a 6-0 210 lb. freshman from Grant High School.

RUNNING BACK—DARRYL CRUMMIE, L.A. Southwest

Darryl  Crummie carried 27 times for 150 yards and 2 TD’s Darryl is a 5-9 180 lb. sophomore from Dominguez High School.

Defense—

LINEBACKER—VERNON GATLIN, L.A. Southwest

Vernon Gatlin won the award for the first time. Vernon had 6 tackles (5 unassisted), 2 sacks, 1 hurry, 1 pass break up, 1 fumble recovery and 1 tackle for a loss. Vernon is a 6-3 203 lb. sophomore from Cleveland High School.

DEFENSIVE LINE—DEVIN JOHNSON, Citrus

Devin Johnson, a 6-3 215 lb. freshman from Rancho Cucamomga High School, won the award for the first time. Devin had 4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 sack.

 

WSC FOOTBALL HIGHLIGHTS

TONY WASHINGTON (Moorpark) caught 8 passes for 224 yards and 2 TD’s.
TYLER MORRIS (Moorpark) had 6 tackles, a fumble recovery for a TD and 1 interception.
WESLEY BEAVERS (Moorpark) had 6 tackles and 1 fumble recovery for a TD.
JOSH NESBITT (Glendale) had 10 tackles, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery.
ALONZO MENIFIELD (Glendale) had 9 tackles and 1 hurry.
GRANT VALENTINE (Glendale) had 7 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 hurry.
COREY STOLLMEYER (Allan Hancock) carried 16 times for 191 yards and 2 TD’s.
WILLIAM CIRINO (Allan Hancock) carried 15 times for 162 yards and 2 TD’s.
SHAUN STEWART (Allan Hancock) carried 19 times for 117 yards and 1 TD.
NEIL TIDWELL (Allan Hancock) had 8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 interception.
SMITH WALTERS (Allan Hancock) had 9 tackles. TJ LEE (Bakersfield) had 93 receiving yards and 1 TD.
KEVIN AVERY (L.A. Harbor) caught 7 passes for 99 yards and 2 TD’s.
KASHMON WARE (L.A. Harbor) had 13 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass deflection.
JASON JUAREZ (L.A. Harbor) had 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 interception.
BRIAN STUART (Canyons) carried 14 times for 113 yards.
PAUL WEINSTEIN (Canyons) kicked 2 field goals of 35 and 24 yards, plus he kicked 6 of 7 PAT’s for 12 points.
KENNY KINARD (L.A. Valley) caught 2 passes for 94 yards and 1 TD of 80 yards.
RAYMOND JOHNSON (L.A. Valley) had 5 kickoff returns for 205 yards and 1 TD of 99 yards (a new school record).
BRYAN WAGGENER (Citrus) completed 13 of 20 passes for 183 yards and 1 TD.
MIKIO BRYAN (Citrus) had 3 tackles and 2 pass break ups.
CHARLES LEWIS (Citrus) caught 5 passes for 89 yards and 1 TD.
KIRK CABANA (Citrus) kicked 2 field goals of 37 and 30 yards, plus he kicked 5 of 5 PAT’s for 11 points.
ROBERT HALL (Ventura) had 5 tackles, 1 pass break up and 1 interception.
DEREK WILSON (Ventura) had 14 tackles and 1 pass break up.
JEREME LEFRANCE (Compton) caught 6 passes for 78 yards.
NICHOLAS ACCIANI (Santa Barbara) broke a school record with 483 passing yards. He was 17 of 41 and 5 TD’s with 2 interceptions.
MARCUS RUSH (Santa Barbara) broke a school record with 230 receiving yards on 13 catches with 2 TD’s.
ERNIE PIERCE (Santa Barbara) caught 8 passes for 193 yards and 2 TD’s.
JERRELL WOODS (West L.A.) carried 19 times for 93 yards and 2 TD’s.
BOOMER WELLES (West L.A.) completed 16 of 28 passes for 230 yards and 2 TD’s.
EDDIE NEWTON (West L.A.) caught 6 passes for 128 yards and 2 TD’s.
ABRAHAM BADILLO (Santa Monica) had 11 tackles and 1 pass break up.
TROY THRASH (Santa Monica) had 8 tackles.
MARLON YATES (Santa Monica) had 3 tackles and 2 pass break ups.
