Top JUCO S still waiting for an offer

Sometimes, when it comes to JC players, they can get lost in the shuffle with four-year coaching staffs and that appears to be what's happened to Allan Hancock S Neil Tidwell (5-11, 205). He's got all the tools to be successful at the next level, but attention has been lacking and he hopes that soon someone will like him enough to step forward with an offer.

"I'm kind of frustrated, but I'm getting my film out here pretty soon and that might be a reason why schools haven't shown that much interest," Tidwell told JCFootball.com recently. "My coaches have said that is probably a big reason so we're just finishing that up and first thing next week I'm going to be mailing it out to a ton of schools.

"I'll probably send it to a lot of WAC and Mountain West schools and probably some Pac 10 schools too. Schools like Washington State, Arizona, Oregon State, Washington, UNLV, Wyoming and schools like that."

Rhodes came to Allan Hancock as a tailback, but injuries forced him to move to the secondary soon after he arrived.

"I was a full-qualifier out of high school, but I had an injury my senior year so only some D-2 schools showed interest in me," Tidwell said. "They actually just threw me out there so it was kind of like I was learning on the job. It was fun playing as a freshman, but I was learning how to tackle and how to take proper angles that first year, but this year I think I've got it down."

As a freshman, even with his inexperience, Tidwell was named 1st Team All-Conference and this past season, he was named to the 2nd Team.

"I had a good year, but it could have been better for me," Tidwell said about his 2007 season. "I had two picks, but I should have had seven more. It was like I would go up for the ball and would have it in my hands and I'd drop it or I'd get hit by my teammate who was also trying to make a play or the receiver would hit it. It was frustrating, but I think I will make those plays next year."

Tidwell also totaled two blocked kicks as well as 45 stops.

"I can be a physical tackler, but I think I'm better in coverage," Tidwell said. "I can do whatever a team needs me to do."

On the recruiting front, Tidwell is hearing from Hofstra, Cal-Poly and Wyoming.

"I don't have any visits set up and no offers yet," Tidwell said. "I can sign this month (December) so I hope someone steps up with an offer."

Wherever Tidwell ends up, he'll have three years to play two.
