"I had a good season, but we struggled at times as a team," McGee told JCFootball.com on Sunday evening. "I had a good season individually though. My coaches shaded me (three-technique) and played me at nose tackle as well.
"Our base defense was a 4-3, but we ran a lot of 3-4 and my coaches wanted me at the nose so that I could clog up that middle area."
McGee didn't put up big stats this season, mainly because he was dealing with double and triple teams, but he still managed to post 26 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, four sacks and three passes batted down.
"I'm strong and I'm quick," McGee said. "I run a 5.0 forty, but it's more your first step that makes a difference and I don't think anyone can stop me if I get a good jump.
"I bench 405 too, so I can shed blockers and occupy the middle."
On the recruiting front, McGee has three offers under his belt and several more schools have gotten involved as well.
offered me about two or three weeks ago and I'm going up there on a visit next weekend (December 14th)," McGee said. "Memphis
offered me pretty early on and I'm going there on January 19th and Oklahoma State offered me this past week and I'm going to try and set up a visit with them for early January as well.
"The other schools really looking at me the hardest right now are Troy
, Arizona State
, Kansas State
"I'm not sure how serious they all are, but all of them call and have film on me and my transcripts so I think something might be coming with at least a couple of those schools in the future."
McGee will finish up his two-year degree in May and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
We'll continue to follow his progress over the coming weeks and update things as they happen.
