Every year, talented players get passed over and go unnoticed by four-year schools, but they choose to walk on at the school they grew up liking. That's exactly what Shasta DE Conrad Davis (6-5, 245) is planning to do this spring and he spoke with JCFootball.com about where he's headed and what he can bring to a program.
"I had some offers from some D-1AA and D-2 schools, but I'm going to walk-on with
Oregon
this spring," Davis said. "I actually have already moved back up here and I'm going to enroll in a couple of weeks when their spring quarter starts."
Meadows is from Oregon and said he grew up loving the Ducks and that's what led him to decide to walk on.
"I'm pretty excited because they were the team I rooted for when I was a kid growing up," Davis said. "It's been a dream for me for a while to go there and play ball and now I'm getting to do it.
"I met with the coaches a couple of weeks ago and told them what I wanted to do and they were excited to have me show up and be part of the depth and the rotation."
Davis was the weakside defensive end for Shasta this past fall and he posted 45 tackles, seven sacks and 12 quarterback hurries.
"I'm a speed guy and I can play strong as well," Davis said. "I worked really hard on my explosion this past summer and it helped me this past fall.
"I can play stand-up or with my hand on the ground and I might play some outside linebacker in different situations."
Davis has already finished up his two-year degree and he'll have three years to play two when he arrives in Eugene.
