Gifted Palomar wideout gets first offer

One of the most gifted JC wideouts on the west coast this fall just received some good news as Palomar WR Maurice Patterson (6-3, 200) was offered on Tuesday by a WAC program.

"I just wanted to let you know that I got offered by Nevada (on Tuesday)," Patterson said in a message to JCFootball.com.

“I had a good season last year, but I want an even better one this coming fall,” Patterson told JCFootball.com earlier this spring. “I mean, we had a lot of talented guys on our team so we had to share the ball, but this season I want to put up big numbers and help us get back to the playoffs.”

Patterson averaged over 22 yards per attempt last fall, posting 11 receptions for 241 yards and two scores.

“I can use my speed to run by guys and my strength to out-muscle them,” Patterson said. “Last summer I ran a 4.38 before our season, so I can do whatever it takes with my size and my speed and I’m strong too (315-pound bench press) so that helps in getting off press-coverage and going for jump balls.

“I like to be physical and get the ball in my hands and then get out and run, but if I have to run go routes all the time, that’s cool too as long as we’re winning and I’m helping out, that’s what I want to do.”

The other schools looking at Patterson early on are Colorado State, San Diego State and New Mexico.
