Brown is a gifted tight end prospect

Blinn is loaded with talented receivers this year, but a big target in the middle of the field for the Buccaneers is TE Prizell Brown (6-4, 255). He's been hard at work in the weight-room this offseason and he's already hauled in three offers and several others have heated up in recent weeks.

"Things are going good so far," Brown told JCFootball.com recently. "I've been working really hard this offseason in the weight-room. Before this year, I really wasn't that serious about things in there before and my coaches have really been on me about putting in the time to get the most out of me.

"Sometimes, in the past, I would put off working out and just live off of what I could athletically, but now I'm doing to little things off the field and I think it will only help me get better."

As a freshman at Blinn last season, Brown put up solid numbers, managing to haul in 20 receptions for over 200 yards and eight scores.

"They used me as a receiver and at H-Back last year," Brown said. "I didn't play a lot as a traditional tight end, but this year I will probably do that a little more this year."

On the recruiting front, Brown already has three offers to his name and he's got some other schools who could be close.

"Arizona, UAB and New Mexico State all have offered me," Brown said. "Kansas State, Ole Miss and California have been contacting me a lot and I think they may offer soon, but right now they haven't offered me.

"I'm open to everyone. I think I can help with being a target in the redzone and I'm getting stronger so I should be able to block better this year."

Brown is on pace to graduate in May of 2009 and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
