Coffeyville's Candy talks recruiting

With Coffeyville's season completed, S Jacky Candy (6-0, 200) has turned his attention toward recruiting and where he'll spend the next two or three years of his life. JCFootball.com caught up with the physical safety prospect and he updated us on his recent visit, which schools he has scheduled trips with and what sort of a timetable he's working off of...

Candy prepped at Stranahan High School in Florida and was a standout on the gridiron and he chose to take his game to Coffeyville because he wanted to earn a D-1 scholarship offer.

"Coffeyville has a good reputation and I liked the coaches and the program here," Candy told JCFootball.com. "We had a tough year this year, but I think they will be able to build off of the things we did and they should be pretty good next year."

For the Red Ravens, Candy played closer to the line and notched 78 tackles, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and five passes defensed and earned First Team All-KJCCC for his efforts.

On the recruiting front, Candy has five offers and he recently took a trip to one of those schools -- Colorado State -- on November 15th for their game against New Mexico and he enjoyed himself.

"I had a lot of fun," Candy said. "It was just enjoyable to meet the staff and the players and check things out. It was a lot of fun for me.

"I have a trip to Akron this weekend (Nov. 28th) and then I will be in Memphis on December 5th and Houston on December December 12th and then I'll have a pretty good idea of where I want to go.

"UAB has also offered me and I 'm working on setting up a visit, but right now I'm not sure when I will go there."

Candy expects to sign with a school during the December signing period and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
