Johnson talks recruiting

College of the Sequoias DE Delano Johnson (6-5, 260) was one of the hottest pass-rushing prospects in the JC ranks this season and he's getting close to making a decision on where he'll eventually finish his college football career. He's already taken a visit and he's working on his final three. Here's a breakdown of what Johnson told JCFootball.com and what his plans are...

"I went to Eastern Michigan last weekend and I loved it," Johnson told JCFootball.com on Monday night. "Coach (Ron) English was great and because I'm originally from Saginaw (Michigan) I have family up there so my mom came on the visit with me so that is a huge plus.

"They have great coaches there and they all have a lot of pro experience, so that was huge and they play in a good conference so they really did a good job of selling me and coach English told me he is personally recruiting me because he said he needs a player like me in the system."

In addition to last week's visit, Johnson also has plans to visit three more schools with two trip dates confirmed.

"I'm going to East Carolina next weekend and that should be good because I've got a lot of family in North Carolina too," Johnson said. "Then I have UTEP on January 30th and then Tennessee has me down for a visit, but we haven't set the date yet.

"I might have to go there during the week, just to get it in, but I'll fit them in no question."

As a sophomore pass-rushing terror, Johnson had a solid season, posting 20 tackles and six sacks for the Giants.

Johnson will finish his two-year degree in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
