"I was recruited by a lot of schools out of high school, but I didn't qualify," Bolanos told JCFootball.com. "It was frustrating for me because I knew I was good enough to play at a D-1 school, but I didn't get it done in the classroom and that's something I'm not going to let happen again.
"Grossmont is close to where I grew up and they are always a top program and they get their players out so I decided to come here."
As a freshman at Grossmont in 2008, Bolanos started every game at right tackle and he said it's his quickness as well as his mentality that sets him apart from other offensive line prospects.
"I get out of my stance really quick and I have good technique," Bolanos said. "I like to get after guys a lot and be physical and play through the whistle. I don't like anyone to get the better of me."
On the recruiting front, Bolanos already has an offer from a Big 10 school and several other programs have let it be known they like what they've seen on film from the big prospect.
offered me a little while ago," Bolanos said. "I thought about committing, but honestly I want to take my time and make sure I wait for things and check schools out before I make a decision because I only get to do this this one time and I need to make sure it's the right decision.
"I'm getting a lot of letters and contact from Louisville, Kansas State
Bolanos is on pace to graduate in May of 2010 and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
