Lots of interest in CCSF's Walker

One of the top players on City College of San Francisco's roster is DB Kenronte Walker (6-1, 210), a prospect who could play almost anywhere in the secondary. With schools going more and more to bigger, more physical cornerbacks, Walker has become a very popular player for D-1 coaching staffs and some are very close to offering the talented defensive back...
"I play corner or safety, it just depends on the situation for us defensively or how the offense lines up," Walker told JCFootball.com. "I love playing safety, but corner is great too. If the offense comes out in three or four wide, then I can drop down and play the slot or even go out wide."
Because of his athleticism, Walker played extensively for the Rams as a freshman in 2008, posting 36 tackles, five passes defensed, two sacks and one interception while starting five games.
"They liked to move me down into the box a lot when I played safety," Walker said. "That allowed me to blitz or use my size and speed (4.5) to run with receivers or even backs or tight ends."
On the
JC football recruiting
front, schools from across the country have shown the native of North Carolina a lot of attention already and some could be close to offering.
"Right now I don't have any offers, but I think a few of them could be close," Walker said. "
Southern Miss
,
Missouri
and
Oklahoma State
all seem to be pretty close and I have talked to
Arizona
,
Arizona State
,
Clemson
,
South Carolina
, Houston,
Washington
and
California
about things and they all said they like me and will be watching me this fall.
"I'm taking two official visits during our bye week, I'm just not sure when that is going to be. I'm going to visit Oklahoma State and Missouri that week. I will probably go to one during the week and the other during the weekend just so I can see both, but I haven't set that date up yet."
Walker is on pace to graduate this December and he will have three years to play two following the 2009 season.
