Big offer comes in for Jason Weaver

Arizona Western OT Jason Weaver (6-5, 320) picked up his second offer earlier this week when an ACC power decided his talent was too good to pass up. This past weekend he helped his team beat Snow College and he said while the offer got him excited, he's maintaining his composure and concentrating on what he has to get done on the field and he'll let the rest take care of itself...

"I got offered by Miami this week," Weaver told JCFootball.com. "Coach (Jeff) Stoutland and I talked and he said they really liked me and what I could do on the field and how versatile and athletic I am. He offered me over the phone and then said they were mailing the offer out to me so I should get that in the mail soon.

"When you get the offer, for an instant you think 'could I commit?', but then you think about it and you want to make sure you make the right choice and I don't want to be one of those people who commit and then change my mind later. I'll take a visit out there, but I'm not sure when. We'll talk next week sometime and see when it works for me to head out there to check things out and meet with the coaches and stuff. It's a big offer though and I'm pumped up by it."

Weaver already had an offer from Arizona to his name and he said schools like New Mexico, UNLV, Arizona State, Nevada and Indiana among others have continued to stay in touch, so he doesn't lack for interest.

Last weekend, Arizona Western took on national power Snow College and put up 494 yards and 35 points on the Badgers with the help of Weaver and the rest of his linemates.

"We definitely had a great game," Weaver said. "I didn't allow a sack and Snow has great D-linemen, so it was a real challenge, but we aren't going to just sit back and say 'we're great, we can beat anybody'. That kind of a game just motivates me and we'll keep improving so we can get better and see how far we can go."

Weaver is still on pace to sign with a team in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
