Arizona Western TE finally sees the field

Arizona Western TE Demetrius Guice (6-5, 252) was received a two game suspension this year for a fight that occured last year against Eastern Arizona. A fight in which he had no part in, but still had to pay a price. Now that his sentence has been served, the talented tight end has gotten back to work and there are a couple of schools that have picked up the pace recruiting him...

"I was stupid and I stepped on the field," Guice told JCFootball.com. "I didn't even get involved in the fight, but I guess there's a rule that says if you even take one step on the field, you get suspended so I had to miss the first two weeks."

Last season as a freshman, Guice managed to post seven receptions for 124 yards on a team that focused more on the running game. Last week in his first game back, he posted four catches for 58 yards and feels like this could be a big year for himself as well as his team.

"Things are going really well for us," Guice said. "We're playing well, we're 3-0 and our goal is to go undefeated and to get to a bowl game.

"I worked really hard at blocking and getting stronger. I also ran a lot of routes and caught a lot of balls, so I think this could be a big year for me."

Recruiting has picked up for the talented tight end, but no offers have come his way as of yet.

"I spoke to the Arizona coaches last week sometime," Guice said. "They are probably the school recruiting me the hardest right now, but Nevada also has been talking to me. They want my film and to keep an eye on my grades to make sure I get the classes and grades needed to finish up in December."

Guice has a 3.2 GPA and said he's taken extra classes to make sure he gets the right credits needed so he can transfer.

Wherever he ends up he'll have three years to play two following the season.
