Grossmont's Homer Mauga keeps rolling

Homer Mauga update

Grossmont LB Homer Mauga (6-0, 220) missed most of his freshman season with an injured shoulder, but now that he's back healthy he's tearing it up for the Griffins. JCFootball.com got an updated from the talented defender recently and he shared his thoughts on his season so far and where things are headed on the recruiting front as well...

"Things have been going good," Mauga informed JCFootball.com recently. "I was injured last year, so a lot of it depended on staying healthy this season and so far I'm just fine and I've been able to help us win some games.

"I have over 20 tackles, four sacks and two fumble recoveries so far. The coaches are using me in a lot of different ways, so it's been a lot of fun."

On the recruiting front, Mauga still has the three offers he told us about over the summer and he's continuing to get heavy interest from several other four-year programs.

"UNLV is my one D-1 offer and then I have Idaho State and Sac State," Mauga said. "I still get stuff from Nevada, UCLA, Arizona State and Iowa State and Kansas State too. It's basically the same schools that have been recruiting me all along."

Mauga hasn't set up any visits and said he plans to do that after his season is completed. The full-qualifier out of high school expects to sign with a program in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
