"I sprained my MCL against ICC, and I have been playing through it,"
added Wayne Dorsey. "I have not had time to take off and let it heal. I
have a big brace on my knee, and that has been tough. It limits my mobility.
I also caught the flu pretty good, and I missed the East Central MS CC game
because they really did not need me. I also missed the S' West CC and East MS
CC because of my knee. I have missed five games (28 tackles and 5 sacks in five games of action) in all., but we are one game
away from getting to our goal."
MS Gulf Coast CC plays East MS CC this Saturday for the State Championship.
A national championship appearance will most likely be waiting for the winner
of the game.
"That is what it is all about, winning a national championship. We came
really close last year, and now we are trying to finish it out. #1 played #2
this weekend and #3 played #4 so we should be in good shape if we beat East
MS CC."
What % does Dorsey feel back from his sprained MCL injury?
"It is just nagging. It locks up on me and gets real stiff sometimes. It
is a nagging injury. I have never even tweaked a knee so it is tough mentally
for me. Just trying to get your body to respond to what you need to be doing
is the toughest part. It is a slow process to get back to where you were, physically."
In the meantime, the 5-Star defensive end added another impressive offer.
"I got an offer from Florida State Thursday. I spoke with Coach Jimbo Fisher
when he came to my school. He said they were going to send it in the mail, and
I got it in last week. I spoke to someone within the administration, and he
talked about the school. Then I spoke with Coach Fisher. He told me how I was
going to fit in down there."
And how does he fit in?
"It is pretty much the same situation as everyone else. They are starting
a walk on DE on the opposite end as Markus White. They said I am pretty much
better than the walk on, and they want me to come in and start from Day 1 and
get things turned around down there."
Did Coach Fisher go over the coaching situation at FSU?
"Not really. He just told me that he was going to be the coach down there
when Coach Bowden left. He didn't really say when that was going to be. He just
said he was the coach-in-waiting. That really does not have anything to do with
me, really. I am just worried about playing time, and I can take it from there."
Where does FSU fit in the big picture?
"I like FSU. I grew up a FSU fan being from Maryland. I love everything
about FSU. I am going on my official visit on November 21st when they play Maryland.
I hope they beat them by 50."
Why the animosity towards the home state school?
" They never offered me out of high school, prep school or juco.
Everybody but them. Go figure."
Dorsey visited Ole Miss in September and has lined up an official visit to North Carolina (11/14) and FSU (11/21). Who will get the last two visits?
"I am going to go home Thanksgiving and talk it over with my family. I
might be done with my visits after I get back from FSU. I will see if one of
those three schools (OM, FSU, N.C.) is where I want to sign in December and
go from there."
Outside of those three schools; who else is staying in steady contact?
"I talk to all eleven of the schools (FSU, N.C., OM, MSU, AU, OSU, Mich,
Tenn, South Florida, ISU) that have offered me regularly."
What stands out about North Carolina right now?
"North Carolina is good. I watched them Thursday night against Virginia Tech. Their defensive line is pretty good. I talk to Coach Blake every week.They
have one or two defensive ends leaving, and it is a good situation for me. It
is not that far from home so my family can come drive and watch me play."
And Ole Miss?
"Ole Miss is still Ole Miss. I just like Ole Miss. I speak to Coaches Nutt,
Price, and Dickerson every week. I just have a good relationship with those
guys. They have been with me through the thick and thin since the recruiting
process started with me."
Obviously playing time is an important issue for Wayne, but what are the other
hot button issues?
"First, like you said, it is about playing time. Then, it is really about
the atmosphere and where I am living. It is about where I want to be the next
two and half years. That is pretty much it."
