Palomar's Berry contemplates walk-on offer

Palomar C Tom Berry (6-4, 280) saw recruiting pick up during the season, but since then it has tapered off. The talented interior offensive line prospect told JCFootball.com recently that he hopes someone steps up with an offer, but he does have the opportunity to walk on with a Pac 10 school should things not work out...

"California wants me to walk-on right now," Berry told JCFootball.com. "They said they like me, but they don't have a scholarship to offer me. I've talked to them a couple of times and I would really like to go up there, but right now it's not a situation I see myself going into at this point."

Berry played center for his entire prep career at Murrieta Valley High School in California and decided to walk-on at San Diego State after graduating.

"I enrolled there in January (of 2008) and was playing spring ball, but I didn't feel happy there and wanted a chance to get a scholarship somewhere," Berry noted.

During the 2009 season, schools like Washington, Rutgers, Tennessee and Wyoming all made inquiries, but none stepped forward with an offer.

"Kent State just called and I spoke with them for a while and I'm sending out film to Portland State for them to get a look at me," Berry said. "I'd love to play Pac 10 ball, but right now I'm just focused on the schools recruiting me and hopefully I'll know something soon."

Berry is an outstanding student and can sign at any time. He'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
