Defensive lineman talks Missouri offer and recruitment overall
Navarro's Jackson already a hot commodity
"After I was red-flagged, I went up to Hargrave Military Academy for one year," Jackson told JCFootball.com. "Then something happened with my family and I left to go take care of them and I basically forgot about football and was ready to just move on with my life and take care of my family, but I started to get that feeling about playing again back into my system so I decided to head out here to Navarro to start playing again."
Last year, as a true freshman, Jackson played both defensive end positions for one of the top JUCO programs in the country and started the first five games before a slight shoulder separation caused him to miss a game.
"It basically popped out and then popped right back in," Jackson said about his right shoulder injury. "I just missed a game and then had the doctors check it out and they said there was no damage or ligament tears.
"After that, I wasn't starting anymore, but I played a lot and this year I plan on starting every game and being 'the guy' outside."
Because of his outstanding size and athleticism -- he posted a 4.68 forty time last fall -- schools from across the south have made it known they like what they see in him.
"Alabama, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Central Florida have all offered me," Jackson said. "Arkansas and Auburn send me a lot of letters and stuff, but they haven't offered yet.
"I'd like to take my visits this fall and then decide. I've been through this before, so I know what to expect. These schools have made a real impression on me, but I'm not ready to make a decision right now."
Last year, Jackson totaled nine sacks and 40 tackles and he said what he does best is get after the quarterback.
"I play the run well, but if I had to choose one thing I think I'm good at, then it has to be rushing the quarterback," Jackson said. "I'm working on my strength and my explosion this summer to help me get better, but yeah, I think I'm a good pass rusher."
Jackson is on pace to graduate in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
