Suel signs with Akron

Over the past two years, one of the more explosive JUCO wideouts in the country was Allan Hancock's Marquelo Suel (6-3, 195). The talented receiver had some academic work to finish up and that caused some schools to hesitate before they offered him. However, one MAC school has decided he was worth the wait and this summer that's where he's headed to continue his college football career...

"I signed with Akron last month," Suel told JCFootball.com. "I went there on a visit and I came home and a couple of weeks later I called the staff there and told them I wanted to sign.

"I really liked the new staff they have there and what they are doing with the program. I really liked everything they showed me. The facilities were nice and I think I'll be really happy there."

As a freshman in 2008, Suel put up solid numbers, posting 36 receptions for 626 yards and four touchdowns and this past season he was a monster hauling in 56 receptions for 800 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"Marquelo is just an outstanding player," Hancock head coach Kris Dutra told JCFootball.com back in Feburary. "The guy is all of the 6'3" we have him listed at and he's a great receiver. He's tough and he makes plays."

Suel is currently taking two courses in the early Summer quarter at Hancock and will finish up on July 22nd. As long as he passes those two classes, he will enroll at Akron in time for the start of fall camp which begins in early August.

Once he steps on campus, Suel will have three years to play two.
