Athletic Pierce TE talks recruiting
"USC is also recruiting me pretty hard and they like me a lot too. They said they need to wait a while on an offer, but they said I fit in perfectly to what they like to do with their tight ends."
So far, New Mexico State and North Texas are the two FBS schools that have offered Ingram and he has offers from Tennessee State and Texas Southern as well, but he hopes with a big sophomore campaign he can have a few more schools to choose from.
"I was excited to get my first offers and I really like the two D-1 schools that have offered," Ingram said. "But I'm not going to make a decision anytime soon. I want to take some visits and see what each school has to offer and get to know the coaches a little better.
"I plan to take a few visits in the season and maybe one or two after it and then I'll decide."
In addition to the four schools who have offered, plus to two he plans to visit soon, Ingram is also hearing from Iowa, UCLA, Oregon State and Kansas State.
Last fall, as a freshman on a team that went 7-4 and lost in the first-round of the playoffs to State Champion Mt. San Antonio, Ingram finished second on the team with 39 receptions for 398 yards and two touchdowns.
"If I had to choose one thing I'm good at, I think I'm probably a better receiver than blocker, but I've really improved in that respect too," Ingram said. "Just getting stronger and getting better technique has helped me and my coaches say I'm a good blocker for my size.
"I'm just working on my strength this offseason and becoming more explosive. I run a 4.6, so my speed is pretty good for my size, but I want to get stronger and quicker for sure."
Ingram is on pace to get his AA degree in December and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up. Nate Ingram Scout Profile
