He thought he was going to sign with one of two D-1AA school, but things fell through with both programs and now College of the Siskiyous LB Steve Butrick (6-3, 230) is a player looking for a home. JCFootball.com caught up with Butrick recently and he updated us on things...
"I verbally committed to Texas Southern, but then I got a call from them a few weeks later and they said 'we've given out all of our scholarships'," Butrick told JCFootball.com recently. "Then I committed to North Carolina Central and I was supposed to take my official visit out there a week or two ago and when I called them to set it up, they said 'we don't have anymore scholarships' so now I'm sorta without a home."
What makes those situations all the more perplexing is that Butrick was a tackling machine in 2008, leading the nation with 126 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, one sack and one interception.
"I think I can do whatever a team needs me to do," Butrick said. "I feel more comfortable in the middle, but whatever they want me to do, I can play outside or inside, special teams, I really don't care, I just want to play."
Butrick was a full-qualifier out of high school so he's eligible to sign right away and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
