Just saw the list of the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame and noticed a California Junior College player on it. Larry Allen of Butte College. Not sure if any of the others are JuCo players, but did know that Larry Allen did play at Butte. Not a bad couple of days and if Aaron Rodgers keeps on continuing his play, he could be another player from Butte who will one day be in the HOF.
JC............. Butte College and the community can be extremely proud on Larry Allens` induction.... and to the future induction of Aaron Rodgers.... I am sure he will have many more great years ahead of him....
If you saw Kaepernick play at Nevada and then to see him this year what a tremendous improvement !!! At Nevada he was a diamond in the rough..... great physical tools... the speed and legs were always there but he has made tremendous strides in his passing technique..... mechanics and delivery of the ball.... that great arm was present at Nevada but not the refinement he shows today. Ault said that Colin was the hardest worker in the weight room he had seen............. most impressive is the young mans ego !!! It is non existent and he always praises his team mates and will not talk about himslf and his feats on the football field !!!
I would take him over Cam Newton and RG3 any day of the week !!!! Not sure but probably over Andrew luck also............
Not sure if I would take him over Luck or RG3. RG3 will have issues due to size and more likely to run then any of the other QB's. Rodgers is right now in my top 3 QB's with P. Manning and Brady.
Kap seems to be a hard working player, but I don't believe he is 230lbs. He seems much smaller then that.
Larry Allen will be to me the most imposing OL to ever play the game. Watch the video below and tell me if you have ever seen another OL do that. Not to mention he most likely is the strongest man in the NFL. 700+ Bench & 900+ Squat.
Favorite Quote is from Michael Strahan:
"Guys will look to find a way out when they have to play him," Strahan said. "The saddest thing is how many players will watch him on film during the week and then, as the game gets closer, they pull up with some mysterious injury or flu or something. We call that catching 'Allen-itis.' He doesn't just block people, he hurts people," said Strahan
Allen is a beast............. plays the posistion to harm people..... a true gladiator !!!!
Kaepernick is a better runner and better passer than RG3.......... I have watched him play for Nevada since he got into a game against Fresno State as an unknown freshman and all he did was dismantle Fresno..... same scenario as with the 9ers..... the hurt QB never saw the field again and transferred........
Not sure abt taking Kaepernick over Luck either........... I have always felt that Luck was better than RG3...... I would have taken Luck over 3..............
JC Steiner wrote: Great post about Compton. Like to see more about that team. Wonder if somebody has a list of JC players who have gone onto the NFL hall of fame.
The question when Larry Allen gets inducted will be how long his speech will be. Some of his Dallas Teammates said the Over/Under is 20 seconds.
Murph wrote an interesting article for JC football.com on this subject (I think last year). It listed a lot of the names and I think he mentioned what a fantasy team of pro players, who had their roots in JC football, might be like. Maybe he would re-post – it would be a good read for this time of the year.
I can think of two from CCSF. O.J and Ollie Matson. Matson went on to play on the great USF team of 1951. They were undefeated and were invited to either the Sugar or Orange Bowl. The one provison was that they not bring any black players. They refused to comply. Also on that team was another HOF player in Gino Marchetti. Marchetti went to Modesto.
I went to the Hall of fame website and they list inductees by college as well as Junior College. The JC list is not accurate. They do not list Walsh from CSM, Gifford from Bakersfield or Matson from CCSF. Here is the list with those three added.
Bakersfield Frank Gifford Butte Larry Allen Cerritos Joe Gibbs and Ron Yary CSM Bill Walsh, John Madden and Dick Vermiel CCSF Ollie Matson and O.J. Simpson Compton Hugh McElhanny, Joe Perry and Pete Rozelle West L A Warren Moon
If I missed some, please add to the list. I only did California JC players
