Upper Midlands JUCO Report

DT Bobby Leath

Junior college recruiting has taken off in the past month. Here's a look at the action in the Upper Midlands region.

HUTCHINSON

Cornerback Riley Hunsicker is on the board with his first two offers as Ohio and Tulane have pulled the trigger on him. There could be more on the way for the speedster originally from Kansas.

Five-star defensive end Marquavius Lewis has recently taken three trips, to South Carolina, Auburn, and Arizona State. The Gamecocks and Tigers have positioned themselves well early on.

Top junior college linebacker Claude George has set his first official visit, to Washington on July 28. The Huskies may be out front for his services, but he's also working on locking down a trip to Miami. Iowa State is hanging around as well.

Iowa WESTERN

Top junior college signal caller Tay Bender already has raked in an offer from Eastern Michigan. He's also heard from Akron, Cincinnati, and Virginia Tech.

Safety Charlie Rogers has a handful of offers that include Illinois, Minnesota, and Utah State. California and Louisville have also shown interest. The Illini, Gophers, and Utah State are in the best shape at this time.

Defensive tackle Mike Edwards has an early offer from North Texas. Iowa State is another school that has inquired on the two-star prospect.

Former Tennessee wideout Paul Harris now stars at Iowa Western and holds early offers from East Carolina and Louisville. The Cardinals will bring him in on a visit June 16.

DODGE CITY

Big wideout James Bynes collected his first offers from Idaho and South Alabama. He's also heard from Southern Mississippi.

Quarterback Deondre Ford is one of the standouts in the region at the junior college level. He has great arm strength and his accuracy has shown to be pinpoint, but he's a bit undersized. His skills are strong enough for someone to take a gamble on him. His first offer could be very close.

COFFEYVILLE

Speedy receiver Dominique Reed holds offers from Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Southern Mississippi, and Louisiana-Lafayette now. Arkansas and Iowa State have also shown legitimate interest.

Defensive tackle Bobby Leath is up to nine offers that includes Arizona State, Arkansas, Boise State, Illinois, and Miami. Kansas State has yet to offer but could be a school to watch.

Safety Devonta Foster is one to watch as he's picked up new offers from South Alabama and Southern Miss. Ole Miss has shown serious interest as well and would be tough to beat if they offer.

Defensive end Timmy Hamilton has added an offer from Iowa State. Illinois and Arizona have also extended him a scholarship. The Wildcats and Cyclones are in good standing with him at this time.

Butler

Linebacker Davon Durant is one of the top junior college prospects in the nation. He's already taken an official visit to Arizona State and gave glowing remarks. He will take official visits to his other standouts South Carolina, Georgia, Florida State, and Ole Miss.

Running back Chris Carson added an offer from Iowa State in the past week to go with his offers from Colorado State, Cincinnati, and Utah State. He's focusing in on Utah State and Iowa State as of now.

Two other prospects of note this year at Butler Community College are defensive tackle Phil Williamson and offensive tackle Tyler Howell. Both hold multiple FBS offers.
